In our 21st century ed leadership course, we planned a district-wide challenge. Our goal for this project was to improve culture, foster collaboration, and encourage innovative teaching practices across our district. We brainstormed ideas together in class and then collaborated digitally in between meetings to move our plan forward. We came up with a great plan to get our teachers excited about technology and trying new things! Each week, teachers will have a new set of tech challenges to complete and they will earn points which they can cash in for laptop stickers and other swag. We plan to implement this challenge in January as a way to jumpstart the new year and to spice up the winter blues. This capstone project was fun to plan but it also had many challenges. First, working to plan a large-scale event with around 20 people is no easy task, particularly since much of the planning was done via digital collaboration instead of in-person discussions. During our second class meeting, we met in smaller groups to divide and conquer, but when we came back together at the end of class to discuss our progress, there was some overlap in what groups were trying to accomplish and some groups felt like they couldn't move forward with their tasks until some of the other groups' work was completed. There were also differing opinions on what we wanted the outcome to look like. We came to a consensus on some of these things that evening, but there is still work to be done! Personally, I will continue to work as a liaison with our central office administration to make sure we set aside time to roll our plan out and I will also work with them to offer CPDU hours to those who would like to collect them for these tasks. I look forward to continuing to collaborate together to put the wheels on this project in motion and I am so excited to see what the teachers come up with for our challenge! I think they're really going to love it!

I liked breaking into smaller groups. It seemed more productive when the groups were smaller and tasks were divvied up. I like the organization and timelines put into place to help keep us motivated and on track.
